WATER & SANITATION

Safe & Quality drinking water

Most of the existing water sources in the area are reported with high fluoride and heavy metals which are the main causal factors for flours and kidney failures. The District Secretariat has been revealed that “at least 8 Chronic Kidney Diseases (CKD) patients are living in every GN division of VOICE working area”. Many of them were remaining undiagnosed, children and their family members are at risk of contracting this chronic disease. Thus, improving access to clean drinking water has become a priority to this area. As a social enterprise, VOICE established 4 purifying systems and distribution through bowsers and the profits earned from the plant fed back into the communities to address specific social needs such as health assistance for CKD affected families and educational assistance for underprivileged children targeting 5536 of parents and caregivers. 2821 of children were impacted to grow in safe, secure, and stimulating environments achieved through holistic, age-appropriate development milestones. VOICE develops a monitoring mechanism with stakeholders by forming a Management Committee from the enrolled families, an advisory committee with representation from the PHI, National Water Supply and Drainage Board, Divisional Secretariat, and VOICE. The Management Committee regularly monitors the progress of the water purification project. If available existing 4 water purifying systems, difficult to cover the huge geographical area with most marginalized and vulnerable for the drinking water issues.
